I had this book on my kindle for a while before I picked it up. It actually took a text from my sister, saying I HAD TO READ IT, that I finally started it!!! And boy am I glad she did because this book was awesome and blew my mind.
Pestilence by Laura Thalassa

Pestilence (The Four Horsemen, #1)
by Laura Thalassa
When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed.
Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed.
Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her … and hers towards him.
And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she’ll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

My thoughts
I had this book on my kindle for a while before I picked it up. It actually took a text from my sister, saying I HAD TO READ IT, that I finally started it!!! And boy am I glad she did because this book was awesome and blew my mind.
It started with Sara, a strong, gritty and tenacious heroine to brutally fight for her survival in a way I never saw any other heroine fight for. She was ruthless with Pestilence. And I loved her for it. There were time when I was sitting in my bed, with my jaw dropping open in utter shock. I couldn’t believe what I was reading.
THIS!!! Right there is the best feeling ever!!!
I loved the plot, enjoyed the interactions between Sara and Pestilence and was thoroughly enthralled by the entire story. I could picture it clearly in my mind, and I relished how different and unique the novel felt.
Even though it was a post apocalyptic genre, the author managed to put her own spin to it. It also helped that I don’t often read these kind of novels, so it felt fresh and captivating. A great change of pace for me. I’ve struggled with several book slumps this year, and changing up my reading genres has helped immensely.
So for anyone that loves fantasy this book should be a MUST READ!!!
It had all the elements I enjoy in a great fantasy novel. Strong characters, a distinctive voice, and a plot that kept me glued to the pages. In my eyes this book was a success and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Pestilence by Laura Thalassa
I’ve read mixed reviews for this one. It was a DNF the first time I tried it but you just convinced me to give it another try 🙂
Honestly I’m the queen of DNF and sometimes, like rarely – lol, I love it the second time. Usually, if I DNF I don’t pick it up again. If you already own it, and you have the time, why not pick it up again. Maybe try the audiobook too if you can get your hands on it. And sometimes the right time for reading a book a second time is just around the corner. You never know. I’m a total mood reader, it all depends on the right book at the right time.:D
Oh I’m so glad to find another DNFer like me!!! ❤️ so true! At least two of my now all time favs were DNFs first! Like Cinder and Red Rising! Thx for the advice! ❤️
That means I’ll give Cinder another chance 😀 I started Red Rising as audiobook, a year ago, DNFed it right away, graded the ebook and devoured it last month I think. I can’t stop talking about this series. So I’ll give Cinder another chance – that means the ebook, since I DNFed the audiobook – lol!!
