You probably know someone like Shay Miller.
She wants to find love, but it eludes her.
She wants to be fulfilled, but her job is a dead end.
She wants to belong, but her life is so isolated.
You probably don’t know anyone like the Moore sisters.
They have an unbreakable circle of friends.
They live the most glamorous life.
They always get what they desire.
Shay thinks she wants their life.
But what they really want is hers.
You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks Sarah Pekkanen
You Are Not Alone was my first book by this author duo.
From the very beginning I noticed that I had a hard time keeping the characters apart from each other. They all started to sound the same since there were so many female characters to keep track of.
The feeling I got the most throughout the book was that it was quite odd, and a bit strange that the heroine was SO interested in another person’s life. It was a bit obsessive, and if I’m honest sad too, how the main character needed to attach herself to virtual strangers, to find some meaning in her life. That’s probably when I stopped connecting with her.
The book was put together in three parts, with different POV’s throughout the story. As I mentioned above, the different POVs from all female cast members, were barely distinguishable from each other. There were just too many female characters that all sounded the same to me.
But I must say that the twists and turns in this book were quite something. Also the writing was good, and the plot made for a great thriller.
